Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuge 

"Today, Hamden Slough is nestled within a working landscape rich in agriculture, industry, conservation and tight-knit communities. The 3210-acre refuge lies on the eastern edge of the Prairie Pothole Region and was established in 1989 for the production of waterfowl and other migratory birds. It became one of Minnesota’s first Important Bird Areas in 2004." -


Cormorant Lakes Sportsman's Club

"The Cormorant Lakes Sportsman's Club (CLSC) is an incorporated non profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restocking of wild game and fish in the area.  The CLSC is also dedicated to the preservation of the environment, both land and waters through educational programs.  It's goal is to keep the membership advised of current federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to hunting, fishing and conservation. In addition, the CLSC is also dedicated to the promotion of sportsmanship in all areas of the great outdoors." -

"The Pine to Prairie International Birding Trail is a unique partnership between the NW Minnesota communities of Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Pelican Rapids, Roseau, Thief River Falls, Warroad, Crookston, Kittson County and Red Lake Falls; Manitoba, participating agencies U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Non-game Wildlife Program, Explore Minnesota Tourism; the birding entities of the Minnesota Ornithologist’s Union, Audubon Minnesota and the Agassiz Chapter of the National Audubon Society." -
