Lead and Copper Service Line Notices

The City of Audubon has completed and submitted our service line materials inventory to the Minnesota Department of Health. The service line inventory is publicly available, and you can check the materials for your service line by visiting the Lead Inventory Tracking Tool (LITT) at https://maps.umn.edu/LSL/ you may also contact us at:

To complete the service line inventory our system gathered information to begin GIS mapping for underground utilities. Geographic Information System or GIS combines database operations like query and statistical analysis with the visualization and geographic analysis capabilities of maps.  We located shut off values in some cases, and had homeowners report the piping materials directly to us. We will continue updating this inventory as new services are installed and as we collect more information. As of 10/24/2024, our inventory contains 1 lead, 0 galvanized requiring replacement, 204 unknown material, and  non-lead service lines.

Water Hardness

Water harness level in Audubon is 25 grains.

"In scientific terms, water hardness is generally the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in water. But in layman's terms, you may notice water hardness when your hands still feel slimy after washing with soap and water, or when your drinking glasses at home become less than crystal clear. Learn a lot more about water hardness on the Water Science School site." - courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey website.
